I don't really have a problem with first team, but second team seems way off. Will Mette is far better than Carney or Seibert. Freibott didn't have a second team year, he had an honorable mention year. Max Davis started out the year well but didn't play as well as Russell or Smith in my mind. A lot of players got ripped off. There are definitely some better players on the top 5 teams that are exponentially better than some of the kids on honorable mention. Overall the All-State selection has again proved to be incredibly unreliable and political.

laxkeep98 - It looks to me like some of the issues would have possibly been resolved if they stayed with 4 players at each position on the First and Second Teams like last year rather than just 3. Does anyone know why they made the change this year, especially since they left the Third Team and Honorable Mention at 4 players per position? Also, I'm surprised the Cape goalie wasn't in there somewhere. The kid was a wall against the top teams I saw Cape play.

The Cape kid looked good vs Friends and TH, but, got lit up vs CR and Sals. The Tatnall G was the kid that deserved better.

The reaso they went back to 3 players is they felt that it did not warrant a 4 player team. They didn't think it was a strong year at those positions. As for the othe other ones that got 4 players it was because of ties that resulted in making 4 players on that team.

How does Lieberman go from being 1st team All State and All American in his junior year to being 2nd team the next?...Especially being over passed by a teammate. I feel that is disrespectful by the state.

No offense to Schrepler, but wasn't Lieberman the #1 defensive player all year long for THS?

Maybe he just lost that fire, attitude, started weight lifting and lost a step, could be many other things like the other boy improved. Who knows?

lax2424..... do I understand you correctly...you think because SL played well in the 2011 campaign that he was disrespected for not automatically being awarded the same in 2012? If so....Thats the wrong mindset...no one is entitled to anything, you work hard, you get noticed and EARN your post season accolades.

I can't speak for the situation in question, but there are too many variables to point out...all of which disregard the fact the kids that got 1st team MAY have had better years than the other guy. Although the post was inquisitive in favor of SL it's a smack in the face for the 1st teamers that got the votes.

These selections should be based on performance only- no sympathy votes, reputations not considered...who dominated the games.

Just saw the Girls All-State Soccer in the NJ today - 20 players on the 1st team and 30 on the second team - so while there may be a few mistakes made on the lax team, at least they make hard decisions vs. just doubling and tripling the size of team to make everybody happy, but lessening the value of the honor.

The DISC conference is by far the best lax conference.
