Took some time off from the boys games and went to Pat. B bball tourney (girls) at Lake Forest. Now I'm bias being a former buc baller, but even I can't take up for the awful game I saw. Now I've seen them play a couple times this year and each time I leave saying what in the world are the coaches doing. First off they play the whole bench during the game whether they are winning or losing. None of the girls can get in the groove like that and there is no chemistry. They have talent but it looks like they are holding there players back alot. It seems as though they haven't taught certain players their role on the team bc some of them get in the game and shoot as soon as they touch the ball. I see exactly why Davis left and kudos to her. I wish she had stayed so I could see her and Young play together, now that she's back. Number 20 is coming off the bench now?? What's that about? She is your second best player after Young. The starting lineup has changed every game. For what? These girls want to win. I see Young out there having to constantly pass the ball everytime she touches it bc that's what the coaches are telling her. I know she's the point guard but she is also your best all around player and shooter. The reason why she's rushing her shots with no confidence lies with the coaching, not her coming back from an injury. I watched her her first 2 years light it up hitting NBA range shots, dropping between 10 and 20 a game and still spreading the ball so I know its not her that's the problem. She was all conference both years for goodness sakes. Your only all conference player and has college offers. Honestly I haven't seen any coach yell anything positive to her, not at the 3 or 4 games I've been to, especially after all her assists or her skying and getting these rebounds in the paint. Young leaves it all on the court 100% She constantly give Vasquez free layups after Young gets up on a rebound or a steal. #20 does too and so does Number 21 and Number 22 the big girls. Why are they at the foul line every time on offense, shooting flat footed jumpers. They shot more of those shots from the foul line than Young and #20 shot total the whole game. Who designed that? Why haven't the coaches taught them post moves?? They could dominate down there. They're both 6 foot tall and the coaches didn't even play them together in the game until the very end when they shouldn't be in together bc Tower Hill was stalling the ball with 4 guards and on post player. #22 really really impressed me tonight, she really battled in the paint with Tower Hill's big girl, she got in foul trouble and fouled out but she was good. The team is playing 4 or 5 most half court possessions when Vasquez reaches and wonders near half court while the team is playing hard defense, then usually Young or #20 throw the ball long to Vasquez for a layup. Now why haven't the coaches said anything about this. They all need to be playing defense the entire time, 3 coaches on the bench and nothing is said. Tonight I was so puzzled as to why no plays were ran to take advantage of the mitch matches. Young had the ball at the top of the key many many times but kept passing it around when it was clear that none of their guards could stay with her. If #21, big girl for Tower Hill was their best player why not play the two bigs for milford and double team her on the post every time. Why not pick and roll with Young or #20 or Vasquez and the two big girls from milford. Rolling to the basket no one could block their shot with #21 for tower hill having to switch off, plus it would keep her out the paint for Young, #20 or Vasquez. to go straight to the basket for a layup. Those are your three best players...in that order! Vasquez is the only one the coaches let shoot when she wants of the 3 and I think its because she doesn't handle the ball as well as Young or #20 so she never has to bring the ball down. #5 doesn't have to bring the ball down either. Every game I went to I saw #32 and #33 shoot the ball more times than Young and #20 and in two games they shot more than Vasquez. Why?? If you're gonna play all your players, first make sure they can all play and then play them at the right times and in the right positions. They constantly take out certain girls for mistakes but at the end of the game the coaches gave up bc #14 had 4 turnovers in a row under 1:00 in game and they were only down 4 and they never took her out. But they took Young and #20 out for shooting the ball. Let your best players play!! Stop holding them back! The team is only gonna go as far as they will take them!! These girls want to win and have fun bc you have taken their confidence when the play good teams. None of the players looked like they wanted to play tonight. Wake up!! You have a running team coaches and your 3 guards are the best guard trio in the conference!! Get #20 back in the starting lineup let her ball. Young, #20, Vasquez and the two big girls #21 and #22. That's your starting lineup!! Let them play, give all 3 of your best players, Young, #20 and Vasquez confidence and the rest will come. Pay attention to Vasquez, get her to play more half court defense and her offense will come. She will be an oustanding player in years to come if she can do that. Whoever the new assistant is on the bench, he needs to let the head coach take more control of the team bc he doesn't know the girls as well it seems. It looked like he was doing the substitutions and they were not good tonight or in any game. The coaches lost the game for the girls.....its sad. Well back to the boys games for me...for now.
