Top 10: Instant impact signees

MORE Top 10s: Surprise commitments | Non-BCS classes

The early signing period in college basketball ends this week. Even though there haven't been too many shocking story lines during this period, there have been some signees of serious significance, players who will be called upon early and often in their college careers.

Rivals.com's recruiting analysts break down the top 10 impact signees during the early signing period.

Top 10 impact signees
1) Maurice Harkless SF, Queens (N.Y.), Connecticut South Kent
Buzz: The nation's No. 45 player is a long and versatile wing. More importantly, he was the first to tell St. John's coach Steve Lavin yes and has paved the way for others to follow.

2) Cody Zeller PF, Washington (Ind.)
Buzz: The five-star big man should be a key to coach Tom Crean's rebuilding process at once-mighty Indiana. Has the size and skill to contribute early and is a kid that other Indiana prospects want to play with.

3)Jahii Carson PG, Mesa (Ariz.)
Buzz: Arizona State has been loading up on athletic wings so it can play faster. The four-star point guard is exactly what Herb Sendek needs to speed things up.

4) Wesley Saunders SF, Los Angeles Windward
Buzz: Harvard has landed an outstanding class and the four-star wing is the jewel. Physical, athletic, tough and wired to score, he's going to be a load in the Ivy League.

5) Marquis Teague PG, Indianapolis Pike
Buzz: Kentucky will likely lose Brandon Knight to the NBA and Teague should be ready to step in for coach John Calipari.

6) Austin Rivers SG, Winter Park (Fla.)
Buzz: Duke is in a position that it doesn't have to rely on one guy. Still, Rivers is the top prospect in the nation and his ability to play the one or two means he'll be able to play a lot.

7) Bradley Beal SG, St. Louis (Mo.) Chaminade
Buzz: A steady wing scorer who brings it on both ends of the floor. Beal is a quiet leader and will help Florida win games.

8) Cezar Guerrero PG, Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco

Buzz: A four-star prospect who is ranked No. 62 overall, the speedy Guerrero should have an immediate impact for Western Kentucky in the Sun Belt.

9) Kentavious Caldwell SG, Greenville (Ga.)
Buzz: A lethal wing scorer who thinks every shot is going in, he's the high profile in-state guy that Georgia coach Mark Fox had to land to establish in-state credibility.

10) Josiah Turner PG, Sacramento (Calif.)

Buzz: Arizona coach Sean Miller is looking to re-establish "Point Guard U" and Turner is the perfect guy to do. There will be minutes available and he should be ready to step up as soon as he arrives on campus.
