Cape Henlopen junior halfback Stephen
Shockley Our apologies to Stephen, he should have made the list sooner. Last
Friday vs Seaford he rushed for 190 yards on 27 carries. Shockley Had 3
touchdowns on runs of 1, 4 and 1 yards. To top it all of he blocked the game
winning field goal attempt to seal Cape's 21-19 victory.  
Newark senior wideout Matt Angeloni
had 6 receptions for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns of 30 and 12 yards in the
Yellowjackets' 43-8 victory over McKean. For the season Matt has 18 receptions
for 361 yards and 4 touchdowns. 
Delmar quarterback Jonathan Ellis
had 14 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown. He Also threw a 30 yard touchdown
to Demeris Cannon in Delmar's 31-0 victory over Laurel.  
Delmar halfback/defensive back Vince
Stewart rushed for 140 yards on 17 carries and scored on a 2 yard run. Vince
is one of the state’s best all-around players. 
Delmar defensive back/ wideout Demeris
Cannon contributed on both sides of the ball. He had an interception and a
fumble recovery on defense and a 30 yards touchdown reception of offense.  
Middletown senior quarterback Mike
Potts completed 11 of 21 passes for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns of 34 and 67
yards in the Cavaliers 29-6 victory over Glasgow.  
St. Mark's senior defensive tackle Jim
Petrucelli has been a dominant force the entire season. He anchors a tough
Spartan defense and is the linchpin to their future success. Turned in yet
another all state caliber performance Friday night at Dover. 
Lake Forest junior halfback Rodney
Young carried 12 times for 189 yards. 182 of that total came in the first
half but he was held to 7 in the second half. An injured elbow limited his
second half effectiveness, an exceptional performance nonetheless in a 28-14
loss to Smyrna.  
Smyrna the 1-2 punch of Josh Cherriman and
Andrew Mears combined for 28 carries, 202 yards and 2 touchdowns in the
Eagles 28-14 victory over Lake Forest. 
Charter freshman quarterback Corey
Phelan led the Force to their second straight victory with 2 fourth quarter
touchdown passes. Overall, Corey completed 11 of 16 passes for 107 yards and 2
touchdowns. The most impressive freshman in the state thus far. 
Tatnall junior runningback James
Ohliger ran for 174 yards on 13 carries and scored on touchdowns of 35, 3, 6
and 65 yards. Also, he was 6 for 6 on PAT's accounting for an amazing 30 points.
 
Christiana’s entire Offensive Line, lead
by Kris Cooper, Ken Thomas and Xavier Wilson blew open gargantuan holes
as 4 separate Vikings ran for 100 yards in a 35-14 trouncing of Brandywine.  
Dickinson back D'Von Stallings ran
for 108 yards and 1 touchdown as the Rams registered their first victory of
2002, 21-7 over A. I. 
Howard defensive linemen Da'rius Lemon
registered 3 sacks as the Wildcats' defense held Friends to negative 8 yards in
total offense.  

Plays of the Week 

With time running out in the Cape Henlopen-Seaford
game, Stephan Shockley sealed the Vikings Homecoming game by blocking a 38 yard
game winning field goal attempt by the Bluejays.  
During the second quarter of the Dover-St. Mark's
game, halfback Jonathon Heydt went off right tackle and otraced the Dover
defense for a spectacular 83 yard touchdown run to lead the Spartans to a 10-0
victory. 
Delmar's Zarar Shauket picked up a fumble and ran
it in from 12 yards out with 2:14 remaining in the Wildcats 31-0 route of rival
Laurel. Although the outcome of the game was predetermined, Shauket showed his
exceptional ability and endless desire by scooping up on the loose ball and
rumbling into the endzone.
