Team Final Dominates Sunday

WILMINGTON, DE - Corey Floyd Jr (Roselle Catholic) scored 20 points and had 17 from Justice Williams (Montverde Academy) as Team Final who led by as much as 30 dominated on both ends of the court to defeat fellow EYBL’s Team Melo 88-61. The #1 17U team in the Nation also had 12 points from 6’10 Junior Jalen Duren (Montverede Academy) ranked #2 in the Nation and 11 points from 7’1 Dereck Lively (Westtown).

Duren who lives in Wilmington the last 15 years has offers from Kentucky, Michigan, Virginia, Villanova, UCLA, Alabama and Miami but is still strongly considering going straight to the NBA or possibly do a year in the G-League. In Game 1 Final held on in a thriller over another tough EYBL program the Albany City Rocks 70-61 behind 19 points and 13 rebounds from Duren. Team Final will head to Indianapolis next weekend in the Made Hoops Showcase where they will face the #1 Junior in the Country in Emoni Bates.

Team Final went 1-1 in 16U with a 72-64 win over Albany City Rocks and loss to Team Melo 65-53. Delaware native James Johns Jr led the way in Game 1 with 17 points and were led in Game 2 by Imhotep Charter 6’7 Sophomore Justin Edwards with 16 points. Johns Jr a 6’6 Sophomore who left Philadelphia School Bonner-Prendergast who has offers from Ole Miss, Miami, Texas A&M and Creighton with interest from Dayton, Georgia, Florida and Penn State has considered to transfer to either Salesianum or Westtown.

The City Rocks were led by 6’6 Sophomore Damarius Owens and 6’3 Sophomore Trey Autry with 9 points each. Autry son of former NY Standout Reds Autry (Syracuse Coach) who attends Ohio School Western Reserve has an offer from Siena with interest from Pittsburgh and UNC-Greensboro.
